Yes, he exaggerated when he wrote this touching memoir. He has paid his dues for that and what remains is a book that gets you inside the head of an addict. Maybe you think you don't want to get into the head of an addict but the world would be a better place if people understood addicts better and didn't just label them as bad people.
The next two books are written by a father and son and are, again, enlightening.
Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction
by David Sheff
Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines
by Nic Sheff
Load up a sample on your Kindle (which, of course you have bought by NOW) and see what you think.
Some of my favorite books are:
I Know This Much is True
by Wally Lamb
A Prayer for Owen Meany
by John Irving
Cider House Rules
by John Irving
The Glass Room
by Simon Mawer
These are all different but are books I will remember for a long time.
The temperature is going to be in the 90's the next couple of days. Lay off the jogging and read a book in the shade. Stay in at lunchtime and find a quiet spot in the cafeteria and read.
Bye for now ...
